Prizes Presented To Top Students Of Religious Schools

Bandar Seri Begawan - A prize presentation was held yesterday at Lumapas Religious School for over 30 top students from 10 religious schools in the Brunei IV area.

In attendance were Chairman Cikgu Hj Khamis Hj Damit, Islamic Studies Officer Cikgu Hjh Hinah Saban, Islamic Studies Assistant Officer Cikgu Pg Anak Hj Matussin Pg Jaya Indera Pg Anak Besar, the proud parents of honoured students and other invited guests. The event's guest of honour was Ustazah Siti Mariam Daud, Head of Islamic Studies Department's Professional Section at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

In her speech, she said how the aims of a religious school differ from those of a conventional one. She also highlighted the important roles of a principal or headmaster in a school environment.

The ceremony aimed to encourage all students to continue to do well in their upcoming exams. The guest of honour presented the deserving recipients with their prizes and certificates.

The event also heard a religious talk by an officer from the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Ismail Arrif, as well a Rawi presentation from the students of Pengkalan Batu Religious School. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
