Fire And Rescue Personnel Bleed For Good Cause

Bandar Seri Begawan - Personnel of the Fire and Rescue Department participated in a blood donation drive organised by the Lambak Kanan Fire and Rescue Training Centre yesterday morning.

The campaign which was part of the department's community service activities was aimed at encouraging its personnel to be socially responsible.

Several senior officers was donating blood to the National Blood Bank in Ripas for patients requiring blood transfusion.

Amongst the senior officers present in support of the worthy cause were the Acting Commandant Abd Sufriyan Hj Abd Hamid, Station Officer, Bungsu Metarsad, Station Officer, Hj Aminarif Hj Nasir and Station Officer, Ajahrin Mail.

The response was overwhelming as more than 90 personnel comprising of instructors, recruits and civilian staff bled for a good cause.

Assisting the campaign was a team of medical personnel from the Ripas Blood Collection Unit, who manage to collect 85 pints of blood. According to a personnel from the Ripas National Blood Bank, since January this year, the unit has held blood donation campaigns almost every day by going to several government departments, private firms as well as associations. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
