Ministry Of Culture, Youth And Sports Celebrates Maulud Nabi

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the departments under the ministry celebrated the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) birthday at the DiGadong Hall, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in Jalan Menteri Besar yesterday. The ceremony was organised by the Museums Department.

Present at the ceremony was the Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Pehin (rang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Awang Mohammad bin -Hj Baud. Also in attendance were Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Dr Hj Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri, Head of Brunei Historic Centre, Dato Paduka Awang Hj Jemat Bin Hj Ampal, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Directors and Deputy Directors, senior officers, officers as well as the staff of the ministry.

The ceremony began with a Dzikir Marhaban performed by the staff of departments under the ministry.

The event continued with a welcoming speech delivered by Pengiran Dr Karim bin Pengiran Hj Osman, the CoChairman of the ceremony.

He said, "Among of the objectives of the ceremony is to celebrate the Islamic calendar year with the theme "Tunas Bangsa Berakhlak Al-Quran". The ceremony was to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed SAW (PBUH) as well as to strengthen the ties between the officers and staff ".

An invited speaker from the Islamic Da'wah Centre, Ustaz Awang Hj Mail bin Hj Besar presented a religious talk. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
