Bandar Seri Begawan - Sixty students from the Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah Language and Literature Club visited the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Wednesday morning to learn the roles played by the government agency in promoting wider usage of Malay. Accompanied by lecturer Faridah bte Abd Hamid and three other teachers, the students were led by Club Chairman Elbisaiful Razaimie bin Md Ali.

The students were briefed by DBP Deputy Director Aminah bte Hj Momin on the organisation chart of the agency and the units and sections of the department. They were also taken on a tour of the various units and sections.

The deputy director touched on the various job opportunities available at the agency, which included translators, editors, artistes and writers.

"Your contributions to magazines published by our department are welcome and you will also receive acknowledgement for every article published.

"Some students contributed and obtained royalty, which they used as their spending money as well as to buy their school needs such as reference books and so on. "This way, they are exposed to greater knowledge and can polish their writing skills at a younger age," she added. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
