By Erna Hj Sumardi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A prize presentation ceremony was held by Sekolah
Menengah Awang Semaun to award its best students for their PMB and
‘O' Level 2007 results.
Former students of the school, now
currently studying in Maktab Duli said that they were proud to be
able to come and receive their respective prizes.
Dyg
Chong Li Chen, Principal of Sekolah Menengah Semaun, in her speech
said that the ceremony was also a symbol of acknowledgement and
appreciation not only for the students but also for the teachers who
had done their best to see their students excel in their subjects.
She said that the school is an
institution concentrating not only on students' academic studies but
also encouraging students to develop spiritually and physically.
"This is the place where students need to realise that the
educational path is the way for a better future.
"There are many scholarships out
there offered by our government to students for a better future,"
she added.
The guest of honour, Dyg Hjh
Donaliza bin Hj Puasa, Acting Director of the Inspectorate
department congratulated the students and advised them to maintain
their hardwork.
She said that there are many
‘distracters' out there and that students should be shrewd to
distinguish the good from the bad.
If motivated and inspired to do
better, she added, students will have a chance to make a difference
in their lives.
Prizes were given to students who
were able to achieve five to eight distinctions in their PMB results
respectively and eight to nine credits and distinctions in their 'O'
Level results.
The students and teachers were also
entertained by a poetry recital by Dyg Noorfaizah Samat from Form
5Ts, choir performances and an oratory presentation by Dyg Hanisaa
Raqiaa from Form 4Sc. -- Courtesy of Borneo
