Futsal Competition In Conjunction With 14th Civil Services Day

Bandar Seri Begawan - The official opening of the Futsal competiton held in conjunction with the 14th Civil Services Day 2007 was held at the Indoor Stadium in Berakas on Wednesday.

Present to officiate the event was the Permanent Secretary (Higher Institution) at the Ministry of Education, Haji Mohd Daud bin Haji Mahmud.

The event that began with a welcoming speech by the co-chairperson of the event, Awang Haji Mohammad Taib bin DH Haji Abdul Wahab, Director of Administration and Services of the Ministry of Education.

The first match between the Veteran and Open category ended in a draw.

Eleven teams are participating in the event, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Home Affairs Ministry, Development Ministry, Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Education, Defence Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, Ministry of Finance and the Prime Minister's Office.

The matches are divided into three categories and the first round will be played in a round-robin format.

Apart from fostering relations among the Civil Service members, the competition aims to encourage teamwork and sportsmanship among them. The final round of the event will be held on April 21 at the same venue. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
