Workshop On Students' Assessment
By P Marilyn
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Universiti Islam Sultan SharifAli (UNISSA)
yesterday held a workshop on students' assessment for its teaching
staff.
It aimed for the standardisation of
assessment methods in the university, properties of good questions
and good marking system.
The workshop was facilitated by Dr
Ayman Salles of the Faculty of Usuluddin, UNISSA.
Dr Mohd Yusop bin Hj Awang Damit,
the Deputy Rector of UNISSA, launched the workshop.
The guest of honour spoke of the
importance of standardisation of the student assessment system so
that no student would be at a disadvantage, according to a press
release.
He stressed that examination
questions should be based on thinking rather than recalling because
the latter will only encourage students to memorise instead of
understand.
The workshop is a continuous effort
by the university to raise and improve the quality of teaching and
learning at the university.
Last year, the university organised
a workshop on teaching methodologies and early this year, a workshop
on quality assurance for its staff. -- Courtesy of Borneo
