BDNAB Conducts Orientation And Mobility Training
By Lyna Mohamad

Bandar Seri Begawan - About 18 RBA personnel, comprising cabin crew and passenger handling service personnel, attended a one-day orientation and mobility training session at the RBA Centre training room yesterday.

The session was part of Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind's (BDNAB) continuous efforts to promote a disabledfriendly and accessible environment. BDNAB volunteer Wan Ali Wan Ibrahim enlightened the, first batch of participants by giving them useful insights on what it means to be visually impaired.

Organised for the first-time, the session's main objective was to exemplify the proper way on how RBA personnel can lend a helping hand to visually impaired persons on board an aircraft.

Among the contents of the course was the proper way to guide and walk with a visually impaired person, as well as ways to politely indicate to them that the path is narrow, show them their seat, present their meals and cutlery so that they know where to reach them when they need to.

Yesterday's session was a collaborative effort between BDNAB and RBA, and was the first of two sessions scheduled for the month. It was also the first formal training session carried out to train other professionals in the service' sector to educate the public.

BDNAB members in attendance at the session yesterday were its president Mohd Jamary Danggat, who himself is a visually impaired individual and volunteered to take part in facilitating the session, and, Hjh Hasnah Hj Azri, who has also been very supportive and active in BDNAB.

Other groups or organisations in the service sector interested in a similar training session can contact BDNAB through: bdnab@brunet.bn. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
