Acting Director Of Schools Visits Tutong

Tutong - Acting Director of Schools, Ministry of Education, Cikgu Hjh Aisah binti Hj Muhd Husain along with her delegation yesterday made a working visit to Tutong District.

The purpose of the working visit was to foster ties among the heads of schools and the Schools' Department, while reviewing the result of implementations, targeted achievementsd and programmes that have been planned for 2008.

The working visit began with a meeting session among the Acting Director of Schools with principals and assistant principals of primary schools in Tutong District.

The meeting, was held at the conference room of the Tutong District Schools Department. The visit proceeded with the presentation of donations to victims of a recent fire that broke out at the boy's hostel of Muda Hashim Secondary School.

The ceremony was held at the same school. Cikgu Hjh Aisah binti Hj Muhd Husain as a representative from the Ministry of Education presented donations to eight students whose belongings were destroyed during the fire, which occurred on February 29. Each student received $100 from the Ministry of Education's welfare funds.

The school also assisted the students by providing them with textbooks, books and stationeries, uniforms and school badges, donations from school members in the form of cash, clothes and school utensils.

With the donations and assistance, it is hoped that the burden of the victims especially in purchasing their study needs would be reduced.

Cigku HjhAisah also met with the principal and teachers from Muda Hashim Secondary School to discuss on how to upgrade teaching quality and students' achievements, especially in the 2008 public examinations. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
