Waiter Fined For Stealing Customer's Mobile Phone

Bandar Seri Begawan - Magistrate's Court yesterday sentenced a 22-year-old local man to a fine of $1,300 or two months in jail in default after he pleaded guilty to theft.

Handy Chairlos bin Kawas, who works at CA Mohammed Restaurant at Yayasan SHHB Complex as a waiter, stole a mobile phone a customer had left on a table. When the customer returned to the restaurant, the mobile phone was missing even after the customer asked the staff there about it.

The customer lodged a police report.
