31 Offenders Caught At Roadblock

Bandar Seri Begawan - The drivers of 31 vehicles were fined and compounded during a roadblock codenamed Operation "Lumba-Lumba 1" at the Muara-Tutong Highway and Jalan Muara yesterday.

Organised by Muara District Police of RBPF, the three-hour operation began at 5.30pm to ensure that vehicles comply with road regulations such as drivers wearing seat belts and no illegal car modifications.

Thirty police officers, including personnel from JSKLL (Jabatan Siasatan Kawalan Laulintas) participated in yesterday's operation which was led by Acting Commanding Officer of Muara District Police, DSP Mohd Hadini Bin Hj Othman, and assisted by Inspector Mohd Addly Bin Abdullah and Inspector Zakeria Bin Hj Duraman.

DSP Mohd Hadini said during the operation, the driver of 22 vehicles were fined and nine received compounds for offences such as bald tires, irregular licence plate measurements, tinted windows, suspension modification, using unregistered sport rims and no road tax.

According to JSKLL personnel, modified licence plates will be confiscated and the drivers will be compounded and issued a letter.

On road safety, DSP Mohd Hadini reminded commercial and noncommercial vehicles to always obey road safety rules to ensure the safety of all road users. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
