Thirty-two representatives from
football clubs and associations from Asean countries, Timor Leste
and Australia are currently in Brunei Darussalam to attend the AFF/FIFA
Futuro III course on Administration and Management Module 4, Club
Management, Administration and Licensing at the Kiulap Plaza.
The course from April 5-9 was
officially launched by Pehin Major General (R) Dato Awang Haji
Mohammad bin Hj Daud, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Also present at the ceremony were Dato Paduka Hj Jemat bin Hj Ampal,
the Permanent Secretary, Awang Haji Ahmad bin Hj Abd Rahman Deputy
Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and
Brandon Menton, a FIFA representative.
The minister in his remarks
highlighted AFF's positive step in developing football standard.
"I am aware of the fact that the
AFF is taking positive steps to develop and enhance the football
playing standard in the region and to a certain extent has met with
some success. Courses such as the ones pertaining to technical
development which are being organised by the AFF with FIFA and AFC
will hopefully create an improved and balanced standard of
football."
The minister also revealed that the
Football Association of Brunei Darussalam has for a very long time
been assisted with developing football.
"Just recently BAFA has been
granted a 12-acre site for the construction of the BAFA Headquarters
and other facilities under the FIFA Goal Programme. I hope that BAFA
will initiate more focused programmes toward the aim of 'Score with
BAFA. Goal with FIFA'."
Meanwhile, Pengiran Hj Matusin bin
Pg Hj Matasan, the Secretary General of BAFA in his welcoming
remarks said that the construction of BAFA Headquarters is currently
progressing well.
"BAFA may never be able to repay
the kindness and generosity except to make Brunei Darussalam proud
through a game of football," he said
"Today, through the ambitious
initiatives of the Asean Football Federation the AFF/FIFA Futuro III
course on Administration and Management module 4 is aimed to improve
the football club administration and management."
"The course is partially funded by
FIFA and AFF whilst BAFA takes care of the local hospitalities. In
addition, FIFA also provided all course materials and Adidas avail
the course attire for the participants and instructors," he added.
The five-day course comprised
topics like statues rules structures and management, finance
sporting development, player's management, media and communications,
club licensing procedure, legal criteria, FIFA and it's development
