Minister Of Religious Affairs Performs Dikir In Tutong

Tutong - Teams from Masjid Sufri Bolkiah and Masjid Utama Mohd Salleh emerged as the champions in the 6th Dikir Sharafil Anam Competition (Dikir Brunei) yesterday.

Competitions such as these are one way to keep a heritage like Dikir alive, especially among the younger generation.

This year's competition was organised by the Department of Mosque Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs. It was held at the Seri Kenangan Complex, Tutong District Community Hall.

The guest of honour, Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain bin Haji Serudin, also performed a Dikir with other officials at the event.

Some 14 teams took part in the in the competition.

In the male category, the champion was Masjid Sufri Bolkiah, followed by the second and third-place winners, Al-Muhazzibun Masjid in Kg Tamoi and Al-Barakah team from Masjid Kg Keriam, respectively.

In the female category, Masjid Utama Mohd Salleh emerged as the champion, followed by Masjid Serusop and Ar-Raudah team from Kg Masin. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
