Porter Wins Big Magazine Photo
Contest

Begawan - The winners of BIG (Brunei Insiders Guide) Magazine
Photography, contest were announced during a prize presentation
ceremony held at the Tourism Development Department, Ministry of
Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday.
Twenty-seven year old Megan Porter
who is working for the American Embassy in Brunei, outshone all the
entries when she was announced as the grand prize winner of the
contest.
Her snapshot, 'The Lost Art'
captured the hearts of the panel of judges.
Speaking to the Bulletin, Megan
took the photograph of the winning entry at Tasek Merimbun when she
went to the site for a tour.
"This is the first competition I
have participated so it is also my first time winning a contest,"
said Porter who started photography as her hobby ten years ago.
"I do not do photography
professionally. It is just a hobby, which I have been doing for the
past few years. I do, however, sell my photos, which I started doing
five years ago," she added.
Porter's other entry, 'The Harvest'
was also selected as one of the three merit - prizes.
The other two merit prizes went to
Hidayah Khairunnisa Bazilah with her entry 'Double Happiness' and
Rodney Tiew on his entry 'Beach Hut'.
The prizes were presented by Awg
Nordin bin Ahmad, Acting Director of the Tourism Development
Department, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.
The photography contest, which ran
from October to December 2007, received an overwhelming response
from the public.

Kenali Negara Kitani (KKK) Campaign to promote Brunei's domestic
