New X-C'try Talents Of Belait District

Bandar Seri Begawan - To uncover talent in long-distance running, a cross-country championship for primary school students in government and private schools was held yesterday afternoon.

Awang Md Nurhidayat bin Md Isa from Sekolah Rendah Sungai Teraban won the boys' 5.7-km race - from Padang KBRC, passing through Taman Jubilee recreational area and Belait beach - in 30mins l0secs.

In the girls' individual race, Dayang Nur Atiqah binte Bujang Sabtu of Sekolah Rendah Muhammad Alam won the 3.5-km race in 32mins lsec.

Fifteen schools in the district sent 12 runners each to take part in the race which saw 90 boys and 90 girls registered yesterday.

The event organized annually by the Co-Curriculum Educational Department of Belait also involved teachers and the Parents Teacher Association.

This year's cross-country was hosted by SR Kuala Belait. Giving away prizes to the winners of four individual and group categories was Assist. Senior Education Officer Awang Hj Md Shuani bin Hj Abd Kadir.
