Clerk Thrown Behind Bars For Stealing Over $20,000 From Bank

Bandar Seri Begawan - A clerk who stole over $20,000 from a bank in the country by transferring the money into her own credit card account, was sentenced to six months' jail.

The Bandar Magistrate's Court was told that Lim Han Lie, 22, transferred a total of $22,244.26 from the bank's system to her credit card between September 23, 2005 and June 14, 2006. She has been fired from the bank.

The bank has so far retrieved $10,815.34, and the outstanding balance that the defendant owes the bank is $11,428.92.
