National Diploma Course In
Agriculture Science

Begawan - Wasan Vocational School announced the launch of a
new national diploma course in Agriculture Science in July 2008.
The two and a half year course
includes crop sciences, animal sciences, crop husbandry,
horticulture crops, poultry, and ruminants. It aims to produce future reliable
and skilled workforce at technician level to meet the country's
demands in the private or government sector sector. There is arising
demand for graduates who can combine both-technical expertise and
business insights in the agriculture industry.
Entry requirements for this
programme include credits in four related GCE `O' level subjects
such as agriculture, biology, chemistry, combined science,
mathematics and geography.
Application forms are available at the
school's administration block. Forms should be completed and
returned by Saturday, April 19, 2008. For further information,

In the first two years of study,
the new diploma course will equip students with strong fundamentals
and train them to be conversant in IT processes and business
services
In the final six months, students will undergo industrial
attachment, get immersed in a real-life working environment, and
enhance and further develop their learned skills and theories.
The intake is kept to a maximum of
20 students in the pioneer batch in July.
"We have to consider the
number of teaching staff and the dire need for agriculture
professionals," said Cikgu Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, the
principal.
Wasan
Vocational School is offering three National Trade Certificate Grade
3 programmes since it started in July 2006. These courses are NTC3
in Fish Husbandry, NTC3 in Crop Production and NTC3 in basic Food
Processing.
The latter was initiated last year.
With the upcoming new programme for National Diploma level, the
school hopes to respond to His Majesty's call in seeing a
development in the country's agriculture to be more advanced and
able to achieve reliability in the future.
In May 2008 will mark the first
convocation for the first two groups of students who had completed
their programmes at the end of last year.
Exposure to students varies from
educational visits to many hands-on practical work.
It is the
school's mission "to provide skill trainings and specialisation so
as to provide aspiring entrepreneurs and skilled workforce who could
contribute towards national development".
Wasan
Vocational School encourages students to strive their best in
