Begawan - The top students of Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah
Masna Secondary School in Lambak Kanan, Berakas were lauded at a
ceremony Thursday morning at its multi-purpose hall to spur others
on for the year.
Ten of the students - Jalilah Hj
Jali, Nurfathin Amamah Hj Nudi, Siti Khairunnisa Mohamad, Nurul'Ain
Syazwani Hazirah Rosli, Batrisyia Hussin, Siti Noramalina Hj Muin,
Nurfarhana Syafiqah Sulaiman, Sill Aniza Naim and - Fatin Syahirah
Hj Abd Rahim - received prizes for attaining good results in the
Lower Secondary Examination (PMB) 2007.
Another 15 students - Nor Akmaliah
Roslan,-Nur Zaidah Jailani, Monica Shiv Kumar, Nur 'Izzah Hani Hj
Ya'akub, Norzalena 14, Ahmad, Dk Sri Ridhwanah Pg Matarsat, Siti Nur
Ardina Daud, Dk Siti Nadzirah Pg Abd Azis, Norsiah Hussin. Atiqah
Mohammad Ali, Ashila Mohamed Salleh, Nur Asma Omar, Nur Zinatul
Azimah Hj Ibrahim, Dk Fathin Azierah Pg Hj Suhaili and Dk Nurulain
Pg Amman also received prizes for good results in the GCE O Level
2007.
Jalilah Hi Jali was top student of
PMB 2007 and Nor Akmaliah Roslan, the best student at GCE O Level
2007 also received prizes.
On hand to deliver the prizes was
Awang Noorhaizamdin bin Hj Mosbi, the Acting Director of Technical
Education at the Ministry of Education.
Awg Noorhaizamdin congratulated the
school for being one of the top three schools in the country in
public examinations where about 60 percent of its students continued
their studies at Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah and
Sixth Form Centre.
Another three students achieved
good results at GCE 0 Level 2007 that qualified them to receive
scholarships for 2008.
He said attention must be given to
various areas to attain continued excellence such as good
discipline, high commitment from teachers and students, solid school
programme, continuous support from parents, conducive school
environment, caring attitude from school administration, and high
expectations from students and the school.
"I am happy to note that the school
is now embarking on programmes to reduce school dropouts, increase
the number of students receiving scholarship, strengthening current
programmes, enhancing quality results and increasing more student
participation in curricular activities," he said.
He called for students to be "well
rounded" in line with the mission of Ministry of Education which is
to "provide holistic education to achieve fullest potential for
all".
"The Principal, education officers and teachers must monitor
school missions from time to time to ensure its dynamism in
fulfilling current needs. You must also ensure proactive,
innovative and dynamic school planning including providing core
curricular activities so students become well-rounded and in
possession of endurance and competitiveness in facing global
challenges," he said.
Meanwhile, school Principal Cikgu
Gazala Abdullah attributed the success of the students to better
usage of effective post diary and continuous study monitoring.
"I, on behalf of the teachers, am
indeed very proud of the students' achievement. We hope to stay in
the top three in line with the school's mission to nurture our
girls into women of substance, ready to lead and serve'. To our girls I say you are the
designer of your own destiny. You are the author, you write the
story. The pen is in your hand and the outcome is whatever you
choose," she said.
The girl students also performed traditional gulingtangan music and belted out choir songs while one teacher
