Caught Red-Handed In Latest Operations
By Liza Mohd
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Three Indonesians were found breaching the
Immigration Act and Regulations after suspicion of misusing their
employment pass by taking up extra employment.
The Belait Immigration Enforcement
Section in its report stated that the three suspects were inspected
at a home renovation project in Sungai Liang area yesterday and were
found carrying out construction works.
Two of the suspects holding a
position as a poultry worker and another as a vegetable farmer were
inspected following suspicion that the suspects are contravening
Regulation 15(2) Immigration Regulation and were issued special
passes.
In a separate investigation within
Kampong Lumut, through the Ops Pintas inspection led by Chief
Immigration Officer, a Thai national was also found carrying out
mobile business selling daily necessities and foodstuffs using a
vehicle and selling them to foreign workers within the surrounding
area.
Early investigation revealed the
man is holding employment as a driver and the enforcement agency is
made to understand that the suspect is from Bandar Seri Begawan and
has already been issued a special pass in the district following
similar offence.
When the items inside the vehicle
were inspected, the enforcement officials also found two alcohol
bottles without permit and a few cigarette cartons without the
government warnings and in relation to that, the restricted items
were handed over to the Customs Preventive and Intelligence Unit in
Belait. -- Courtesy of Borneo
