Village Council Presents Donation To Leukaemia Girl By Narissa Noor and Hj Minor Absah

Tutong - Residents of Kampong Kiudang and Mungkom, Tutong, and members of the its Village Consultative Council met yesterday afternoon for a dialogue to discuss any problems that the residents might have.

The guest of honour at the event, Major (R) Hj Mohd Shah bin Haj i Mohd Noor, the Penghulu of Mukim Kiudang, gave the opening remarks in which he applauded the efforts of the village consultative council in addressing issues affecting the village's safety and wellbeing.

He also emphasised the importance the council plays in helping fellow residents in need through donations, disregarding race or religion.

With that in mind, the event then followed with the presentation of a $1,131 donation from the council and the Tiong Hua Association to Mr Hiew Yong Hong whose daughter is currently hospitalised with leukaemia at RIPAS hospital.

One of two children, 18-year-old Hiew Hai Ming was diagnosed with the life-threatening disease in 2005 and has already undergone four operations. She was recently left paralysed.

The event also saw the presentation of certificates by the guest of honour to members of the consultative council who had attended the nationwide Mukim and Village Consultative Council last year. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
