Call To Standardise Emergency Numbers

Bandar Seri Begawan - Members of the public are confused over numerous telephone numbers for the national disaster management center to call in case of emergency with many left unsure which number to call when a situation arises.

This observation was made by YB Haji Sulaiman bin Hj Ahad a Legislative Council Member delivering a speech as guest of honour at the fire and rescue department roadshow in conjunction with its 48th anniversary for in operation branch, Temburong District Fire and Rescue Department at the Bumiputera main complex in Bangar.

Hj Sulaiman urged authorities to standardise the phone numbers of the national disaster management center.

He also suggested to increase and diversify more education safety programmes for the public to have more focus towards practical methods and the need for a continuous learning method.

He also added that the Temburong flood, has taught us not to sit on our laurels the incident reminded us of a need for management that involves resources, human resources and equipment from different government agencies as well as the private sector, effective organisation and the need for complex action in the long run. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
