Brunei, Malaysia Religious Schools
Strengthen Ties
By Nasroul Hizam
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Bruneians were yesterday urged to consider
Malaysian schools to further their Islamic studies even as twinning
programmes in religious education between the two countries were
also proposed.
This came as a delegation of
students from Malaysia's Darul Ridzuan Islamic College of Perak
yesterday visited the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Religious
Arabic Secondary School for Girls (Suampripad).
The visit aims to foster closer
ties between Brunei and Malaysia in the field of Islamic education
and to promote its new campus in Kuala Kangsar, while inviting
students to take the various diploma courses available, especially
for those in Arabic schools.
Teachers and students from the
school and others from the Mahad Islam Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah
Arabic Secondary School for Boys and Tahfiz al-Quran Hj Hassanal
Bolkiah made up the audience.
The delegation was received by the
principal of Suumpripad, Datin Hjh Piab Hl Mohd Saat, who hoped that
the visit would open the minds of those present regarding the
possibility of furthering their studies in Malaysia, particularly at
the Darul Ridzuan Islamic College.
Ustazah
Hjh Norzainah Hi Buntar from the Ministry of Religious Affairs'
Arabic Schools Unit under the Islamic Teachings Department first
delivered a presentation for the delegation on Brunei's Arabic
Schools Education System.
Leading the Malaysian delegation
was the college's Deputy Rector, Hj Ahmad Husni Hasan, who spoke on
the college's infrastructure and the courses available. Hj Ahmad
Husni said he is looking forward to twinning programmes with
Bruneian universities, especially the Seri Begawan Religious
Teachings University College (KUPUSB), which the delegation also
visited after the briefing.
