Labour Survey To Be Conducted
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Brunei will conduct a labour force survey in April
and June to identify the characteristics of unemployment in the
country, as well as collect an up-to-date information on the size
and distribution of the labour force to assist in the planning and
evaluation of manpower needs.
The Department of Economic Planning
and Development at the Prime Minister's Office has divided the
survey in two stages, house numbering from April 5-14 and the labour
force survey from June 7-16, according to a press release issued by
the department yesterday.
Coverage of the labour force survey
would be determined though sampling, where various areas in each
district will be selected and all houses will be listed in the
numbering stage.
Only randomly selected households
will be participating in the survey.
During the house numbering
stage, survey officers will visit every house in the selected areas
to collect data on the names of household heads; number of household
members and entrepreneurial household activities, among others.
The survey is carried out under the
Statistics Act, where all information will be treated as strictly
confidential. -- Courtesy of
