Prison Department Celebrates Maulud Nabi, Receives Visit

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Prison Department held a Maulud Nabi celebration for inmates at the Jerudong Prison in conjunction with the Prophet Muhammad's birthday yesterday.

Some 80 officers, staff, inmates as well as guests were present at the celebration.

Present as the guest of honour was the Director of Prison, Dato Paduka Haji Ahmad Haji Dullah who was accompanied by the Officer-In-Charge of Prison, Superintendent Haji Ismail bin Haji Murat.

Among the programmes was a Dzikir Syarafil Anam competition.

The event is an annual activity for the inmates, which was organised by the Rehabilitation and After Care Services Section, chaired by the Prison Officer, Haji Omar bin Haji Asmat.

The Prison Department also received a visit from 25 officers from the Royal Brunei Air Force.

The group was led by the Deputy Commandant of RBAF Colonel (U) Haji Abd Rashid Asut and welcomed by the Deputy Officer-In-Charge, Chief Officer Haji Safar Haji Jeruddin.

The Prison Department gave a briefing on rehabilitation programmes conducted in the prison.

The visitors also had the opportunity to observe a caning demonstration while touring the prison department's exhibition gallery. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
