Briefing On Al-Quran
Specialisation Course In KL
By Norizan Murshid
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A briefing was held yesterday morning at the
Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in Jalan
Tutong for sixth-form students who are applying for a diploma course
at the Darul Quran Jakim in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia next month.
The briefing - delivered by Ustaz
Haji Abd Hafeiz Hj Mohd Noh, the assistant principal for Special
Duties Officer at the institute - was attended by the other two
assistant principals - Cikgu Hj Awang (administration) and Ustaz
Mohd Lazim (academics) and parents of prospective students.
Ustaz Hj
Abd Hafeiz said there is a chance that most of the students could
continue their diploma in Al-Quran Memorising at the overseas
institute and the purpose of the briefing was to inform the parents
of the advantages of pursuing such course.
He added that by pursuing
the Al-Quran specialisation course in Kuala Lumpur next month they
will save at least three years where they can finish their tertiary
studies within six years from now.
"However some parents may have
other alternatives for their children. Therefore, it is up to them
to decide what is best for their offspring," he said adding that the
students will be on government scholarship iii pursuing the course.
He said between now and next month
when officers from Darul Quran Jakim will come here to conduct
interviews for prospective students, parents can make a decision
based on what he told them.
Students from the Brunei institute
have been pursuing their diploma course in Darul Quran Jakim over
the last three years.
Last year, six students applied to
join the KL institute and all of them were accepted.
"There is a
chance that most of our students, if not all, could be accepted
again this year. This depends on the overseas quota for foreign
students at the KL institute," he said.
Parents were also allowed to ask
questions. A student who is currently studying at the institute was
also present to share his experience in pursuing his studies at the
Darul Quran Jakim. -- Courtesy of Borneo
