Bandar Seri
Begawan - The government, through the Department of Economic
Planning and Development (JPKE), Prime Minister's Office will
conduct the Labour Force Survey 2008 (LFS 2008).
In a press statement, JPKE stated
that the survey will be conducted in two stages; in the first stage
the department will conduct House Numbering from April 5-14, 2008
and in the second stage, the department will conduct Labour Force
Survey from June 7-16, 2008.
The survey aims to collect
comprehensive and up-to-date information on size, structure,
distribution and characteristics of the labour force, employment and

It will enable the department to

policies and management of labour force.
JPKE
stated that the survey is carried out under the Statistic Act,
Chapter 81 of the Laws of Brunei Darussalam (Revised 1984). All

The coverage of this Labour Force
Survey is determined through sampling. Various areas in each district will
be selected and all houses and households will be numbered and
listed in the numbering stage.
Only certain households selected
randomly from the selected areas will be participating in the
survey.
At the numbering stage, appointed
survey officers will visit every house in the selected survey areas
to number the house and collect information on the name of the head
of households, address or location of the house, number of household
members, type of housing unit, ownership of dwelling, year of
completion/owned/occupied, entrepreneurial households activities and
telephone number.
JPKE said it has appointed survey
officers to interview selected households throughout the survey
periods.
Support and cooperation from all
selected households in providing the required information are highly
appreciated for the success of the survey, JPKE said in its press
statement.
