By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - LA Donut & Cafe suffered their first defeat at the
HSBC 60th anniversary basketball tournament last night losing 66-35
to CHMSAA despite their captain Wong Ha Shiong scoring 10 of his 15
points in the third quarter.
LA Donut & Cafe cagers seemed to
have left their scoring shoes at home as none of the starting five
came close to scoring double digit. With height and size advantage,

first win of the tournament. Goh Wen Hong scored a high 12 points
while Chan Kok Chuk had three baskets behind the arch for CHMSAA.
CHMSAA
took a two-point lead by the end of the first quarter and never
looked back.
The younger LA Donut team were no
match against the former students of CHMS as the lead was extended
to 2$-19 heading into the third quarter.
Sloppy passes and costly turnover
also contributed to the fall of LA Donut as CHMSAA continued to
bulldoze their way stretching their lead to 42-31 at the end of the
third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, LA Donut
offences fell flat with the team scoring only four points for the
whole 10 minutes. CHMSAA went on to win easily with a 31-point
difference at the final buzzer.
