180 Of Petrol Uncovered At Mouse
Trail Near Border
By James Kon & Yusrin Junaidi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - With the petrol price hitting RM1.91 per litre in
Malaysia, smugglers are trying to make a quick buck by supplying
petrol across the border.
Some 180 litres of regular petrol,
worth about $90, were found by police rangers at one of the mouse
trails, leading to Kampong Junjungan I during a routine patrol last
Saturday.
It was the second time that the
police had uncovered fuel smuggling activities at the mouse trail
last month.
Two police rangers from the Reserve
Unit Company ‘C’, who were on patrol in the vicinity near the
border, stumbled upon a fresh motorcycle track leading to a mouse
trail at 9.35 am on Saturday.
Following the trail, they found six
containers, including one inside a basket.
It was believed that the spot was a
drop-off and pick-up point for smugglers.
Police rangers staked out in the
area.
However, no one came to collect the
petrol.
According to police personnel, it
was believed that the smugglers "used the mouse trail to smuggle
fuel and contrabands. Once their activities are discovered, they
will move on to a new mouse trail".
Police rangers are currently
keeping a close watch on the area, while the fuel has been
confiscated and the case is looked into by the Royal Brunei Police
Force. -- Courtesy of Borneo
