FBBA Charts Out Upcoming Events

Begawan - The French Bruneian Business Association (FBBA)
held an annual general meeting yesterday at Sheraton Utama Hotel in
the capital to discuss upcoming activities in the country.
Chaired by FBBA President Pierre
Imhof, the event began with a welcoming address by FBBA Honorary
Patron and French Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Mr Patrick
Bonneville.
Imhof,
meanwhile, spoke of the growth of FBBA over the years in his speech.
He also urged the members to
continue interacting with each other and hoped the meeting will
continue to be held in the spirit of friendship.
He noted that there will not be any
election this year as elections are held every two years, though
member Sha7ali Sulaiman of KPMG was elected Honorary Auditor for
FBBA.
Meanwhile, yesterday's meeting saw
the report of activities in 2007 being presented by FBBA Secretary
Tan Cheng Voon, and a financial report of the proceeding year by
FBBA Treasurer Daniel Ng.
From March 2007 to March 2008,
among the activities organised by FBBA were: a cocktail at the
residence of the French ambassador, a luncheon talk on "Partnership
between France and Asean: A Case Study for Brunei Darussalam" at
Sheraton Utama Hotel, the arrival of French Frigate, a business talk
on "Land Tenure in Brunei Darussalam", and an annual get-together
attended by the Minister of Health.
Upcoming events from now until June
2008, as proposed by Imhof, include an investment talk by Jean-Marie
Demange, Head of Economic Departments for Southeast Asia, French
Embassy in Singapore. The-FBBA will also be hosting the 9th National
Development Plan talk and an annual get-together with its members.
Speaking to the Bulletin, Shazali
said the FBBA aims to develop bilateral relations between France and
Brunei Darussalam while enhancing closer working ties and
networking.
Meanwhile, Tan attributed the
success of the association to the strong support of the French
Embassy in the country.
The FBBA currently boasts 80
members, making it one of the biggest and most active associations
