Jigsaw Students Spend Day Harvesting Paddy With Farmers
By James Kon

Bandar Seri Begawan - Students from Jigsaw Primary School, Berakas, recently took a day out of their school holidays to get some experience in harvesting paddy in Kg Bebuluh.

The students were shown the ropes by the owner of the paddy field, Pau Sau All Choi, and Tumi Nunnisuari.

The students also took a closer look at small huts called "sulap", which are used to store paddy. They also learnt about the process of harvesting paddy such as winnowing. After a hard day's work, the students were treated to fresh sugarcane.

The trip ended with a visit to the Berakas Forest Reserve.

They were accompanied by the school's principal, Mrs Helen Chin, and five teachers.

The main objective of the educational trip was to give them a better understanding of the hard work that farmers put in to harvest paddy. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
