Man Detained For Possessing Stolen Items

Bandar Seri Begawan - Eleven theft cases were reported in the last four days, the police said yesterday.

The police also revealed that a man was also detained for possessing stolen items.

Five theft cases occurred in the Rataie national housing scheme in Temburong, a shop in Sengkurong, a company in Bengkurong, Kg Belais in Temburong and Yayasan complex in the capital. Items lost were a charger, two handphones, -a car engine, a boat with its propeller and engine.

Another six thefts happened in the Lambak Kanan national housing scheme, Jerudong, Perpindahan Mata-Mata. Rimba national housing scheme and Manggis II.

Items missing were an Aifa television, an Aifa DVD player, an JVC camcorder, Nokia and Alcatel mobile phones, two purses, an NEC laptop, five wrist watches, a Sony video camera, Sony PlayStation and jewellery. A 22-year-old foreign worker and two locals in their 20's and 40's were arrested.

One attempted rape case was also reported. A foreign worker was questioned over a $50 counterfeit note. Also reported were five assault cases, one nuisance phone call, one extortion and five customs cases where four foreign men and two women were detained.

Other cases reported were four misuse of drugs with three foreign men and a local detained, and two immigration cases with one foreign man and a foreign woman quizzed.

Meanwhile, 20 accident cases, including 14 in Brunei/Muara, three in Belait and three in Tutong were reported, including 11 car crashes, and nine self accidents. Four persons suffered minor injuries. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
