Local golfers with a handicap of up to 36 for both men and women are welcome to take part in the fundraising tournament which is scheduled to take place at the RBA Golf Club from May 3-6, 2007. The registration fee is B$120 for adults and $60 for junior golfers. The registration fee is inclusive of green fee, buggy fee, buffet breakfast and lunch. The closing date for registration is May 1.

The charity golf tournament attracted some 420 golfers last year. This year, the numbers are expected to exceed 500.

A signing ceremony between QAF Motor Group and Baiduri Bank Bhd for the 12th Baiduri Bank Charity Golf tournament took place at QAF Centre, Jln Beribi, yesterday morning.

Dato Paduka Chua Pheng Siong, General Manager of Business Development at QAF Brunei Sdn Bhd, and Mr Roger Fletcher of QAF Auto signed on behalf of QAF Brunei, while Mr Pierre Imhof, General Manager of Baiduri Bank, and Mr Andrew Young, chairman of the event's organising committee, signed on behalf of the bank.

Also present at the signing were senior management and staff of Baiduri Bank, QAF Auto and QAF Brunei.

The annual fundraising golf tournament is organised by Baiduri Bank in collaboration with strategic partners MasterCard International, Brunei Press Sdn Bhd, QAF Auto Sdn Bhd, QAF Eurokars Sdn Bhd, QAF Brunei and Ben Foods (B) Sdn Bhd.

The objective of the tournament is to raise funds to support charitable foundations such as Pusat Ehsan, CDC and SMARTER, among others. Members of the charities will also be around to offer their handicraft for donations.

"It is a good opportunity to contribute to a good cause and play golf with a big heart," said Mr Andrew Young.

"Who knows? Someone might be lucky enough to win a car."

In addition to the hole-in-one prizes, there will be charity draw prizes and novelty prizes to be won during the four-day event.

The format of play this year is based on System 36 Stableford, which is hoped to help ensure greater fair play. This year's rule committee comprises representatives from Panaga Golf Club, Pantai Mentiri Golf Club, RBA Golf Club and RBGCC.
