Father Thanks QAF Children Medical
Fund For Daughter's Recovery

Begawan - The father of nine-year-old levon Liaw Yee Wen who
was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma (brain tumour) last year,
thanked QAF Children Medical Fund and other contributors for helping
him pay for his daughter's treatment at National University Hospital
in Singapore.
Mr
Liaw Teck Kiong who has been working with the Royal Brunei Police
Force for 19 years, told the Bulletin that his daughter underwent
four surgeries to remove the tumour.
Her last surgery was in January.
She has completed radiotherapy and
is on the road to recovery. However, she is still partially blind
and still requires regular checkups.
"At the moment, she needs to go for
x-rays and scanning in Brunei to ensure that the tumour does not
grow hack," Mr Liaw said.
In December, 'even will return to
Singapore for an eye checkup and it is hoped that she may be able to
regain her sight.
Last October, the QAF Children
Medical Fund donated $10,000 to Mr Liaw. He also received financial
aid from relatives and friends.
levon, who is the youngest of three
children, was a student of Chung FINVa Middle School in the capital.
She has stopped attending school because of her condition.
Mr Liaw said that his daughter
first showed symptoms of her illness when she complained that she
were having difficulty seeing things. Following a checkup at an eye
