Future Trend In Changing Contours
Of Education

Begawan - The Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education
(SHBIE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam will be organising the 12"'
International Conference on Education from May 21 to 24, 2007 at the
Chancellor Hall of UBD.
During the last decade, SHBIE has
observed remarkable shifts in education to take on board innovation
and technology in line with the changes shaping education today.
The theme for this year's
conference is "Changing Contours of Education: Future Trend". It
will address all areas of research, innovation and practice.
The conference is aimed at
facilitating international collaboration and information sharing,
informing participants about international innovations and trends in
practice, encouraging dialogue and debate on future directions in
education, and challenging perceptions about the direction of
education and modes of delivery.
The areas of teaching and learning
innovation that will be focussed are Educational Leadership,
Technology in Education, Early Childhood Education, Special
Education, Language Education, Science, Mathematics and Technical
Education, and Social Science Education.
The four-day conference will
include more than 200 working papers involving delegates from
Europe, America, Central Asia and Asia. All papers will focus on the
applications of technology in classroom and management, current
innovative practices in all areas of educational leadership
curriculum and assessment.
Three distinguished international
keynote speakers have been invited to present their working papers
in the conference. They are Dr John Ainley, Deputy Chief Executive
Officer for Research at theAustralian Council for Educational
Research; ProfessorAsha Kanwar, Vice President of the Commonwealth
of Learning; and Dr Seiji Utsumi, a Professor at the Graduate School
of Human Science at Osaka University.
Participation is open to
educational innovators in all areas especially primary and secondary
teachers, educational leaders, academic researchers, educators and
members of the public.
With such a wide range of
delegates, participants can look forward to networking with
like-minded peers, decision makers and educational leaders from
different countries.
There is an early bird registration
fee of US$200 for international participants and B$170 for local
participants. Fees will cover refreshments, conference books and
conference dinner.
