'Portugal' win Kg Tanah Jambu Futsal tournament in shootout

"Portugal" team emerged champions at the Futsal championship organised by Youths of Kampung Tanah Jambu at Indoor Stadium over the weekend.

The team beat "South Korea" team 8-7 in a penalty shootout. A total of 10 teams took part in the competition.

The championship was part of "World Cup 2006 Crazy" to select the players to represent the village in a Fustal event to be held in Kuching, Sarawak in early September 2006 in conjunction with Malaysia's National Day celebration.

The teams which took part used the names of the teams that will be participating in the World Cup 2006. The chief guest at the championship was the Village Head of Kg. Tanah Jambu, Haji Asar who presented the prizes to the winners.

Third place went to "Brazil" team. The organisers said the championship also sought to enhance ties among youths in the village and to boost the participants' health.
