4 Fined For Smuggling

Bandar Seri Begawan - A local man, Omar bin Mokti, was fined $5,000 or five months' imprisonment in default, for bringing in 165.8 kilos of Allana frozen meat without permit on June 8, 2004, RTB reported.

Meanwhile, Haji Abdul Rahman Hj Mohd Arsad, 21-year-old local, and Awg Steward Anak Rimau, a Malaysian, were both fined $2,000 or face a two month-jail term, for bringing in an Astro receiver and disc on April 4, 2004.

A Singaporean, Wong So Har @Wong Woon Hin, 53, was fined $1,500 or face two months imprisonment for bringing without a permit a digital satellite receiver at the international airport in Berakas in May 2004. He paid the fine. The goods were confiscated. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
