ACB Moves To Reduce Corruption

Begawan - The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has conducted>a
study on the procedure for endorsement of foreign driving licence in
Brunei to identify loopholes and proposed recommendations to reduce
corruption.
The findings on this study were
presented yesterday to senior officers from the Land Transport and the
Ministry of Communications by the Corruption Preventive Division of
the ACB.
Senior officials from the ACB and the
Ministry of Communications discussed issues highlighted in the study,
which may require scrutiny and tightening of identified loopholes in
the existing practices and procedures of government contracting system
to minimise opportunities for corruption.

Director Datin Paduka Hajah Intan Haji Md Kassim said the ACB through
its Corruption Prevention Division is conducting assignment studies on
work practices and procedures in the works of various government
departments.
With the findings formed from the
assignment studies, she said recommendations are made to the relevant
departments to make revisions of their work practice and procedures
identified to be conductive to possible abuse and corruption,
ACB
is conducting 27 assignment papers (studies) on the Ministry of
Communications, including six on procedures and practices of the Land
Transport. The ACB will also conduct assignment studies on practices
and procedures in other government ministries, she said --
