Tiago Boost For Brunei
By Dannie Abu Basrah
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Brunei DPMM FC will travel to the Batu Kawan Stadium
in.Pulau Pinang tonight to take on Pulau Pinang NTFA who are currently
at the bottom of the standings in Group A of the 2005/2006 Malaysian
Premier League.
Tonight's clash will prove to be a.
good opportunity for Brunei DPMM FC to get back to winning ways as
they have emerged victorious over their opponents in previous meetings
starting with a 1-0 first round home win followed by a 4-2 away
thrashing of Pulau Pinang NTFA in round 2.
Brazilian striker, Ti ago Dos Santos
will be welcomed back into the team after serving his twe -match red
card suspension while Brunei DPMM FC will be missing the right flank
service of Hj Muhd Subhi Addillah Bakir who was suspended for picking
a red card in the previous 2-2 home draw against Johor.
Tiago
Dos Santos presence will be expected to boost the team's morale and
improve on their goal scoring effectiveness as he was missed in the
previous matches with the team missing out on several good chances.
The Brazilian is the team's current
joint leading scorer along with fellow countryman Rodrigo Antonio
Lombardo Tosi, both with six goals each.
As for Pulau Pinang NTFA, they also
come into the match from a draw, a 0-0 away draw to Perak UPB but have
lost their previous two home games with a 3-0 defeat to Kedah followed
by 3-1 defeat to Kelantan.
David Ngan Gagbe will be the man to
watch. He is NTFA's leading top scorer with five goals to his name as
his team still holds the record for the poorest offensive and
defensive team, scoring only 12 and conceding 29 goals thus far.
It will certainly be an exciting week
as the season gets closer to the end with five more games to go as all
top four teams will be involved in tough encounters.
The highlight this week would surely
be at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Star as league leaders, Kedah
host second placed Terengganu with only a point separating both sides.
Despite the slim difference, Kedah
still have an advantage of two games in hand but at this stage any
point is vital.
In another exciting clash, Sarawak
will travel to the Tan Sri Dato Hassan Yunus Stadium to take on third
placed Johor, with the hope of minimising their four points gap.
But it will definitely be a tough
task for the visitors to secure all three points especially coming
into the match from a stunning 4-1 home defeat to Terengganu last week
while Johor come into the match on a four-match winning streak.
Meanwhile at the Sultan Mohd IV
Stadium in Kota Baru, Kelantan will entertain Perak UPB with both
sides yet to find consistency as they have showcased roller-coaster
performances in their previous matches. --
