BSP, MOF Ink Contract On SAP
Disaster System

Begawan - Brunei Shell Petroleum and Information Technology and
States Store Department (ITSS), Ministry of Finance (MOF) reached an
agreement in the IT development cooperation field to house BSP, BLNG
and BST SAP Disaster Recovery Hot Standby System at MOF's premises.
The SAP Disaster Recovery Hot Standby
System is part of the companies' continuity plan to protect SAP, a
crucial system that monitors all business transactions and operations,
from any disasters.
The signing ceremony, which was held
yesterday at MOF's premises, endorsed BSP, BLNG and BST to rent floor
space in MOF's Data Centre to host its SAP Hot Standby Systems
including a work area for 50 key BSP, BLNG and BST staff to operate in
the unlikely event of an emergency.
Signing the contract on behalf of MOF
was Awg Hj Ali bin Apong, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Finance, while signing on behalf of BSP and BLNG was Mr Vincent Liew,
BSP's Information Manager.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by
Awg Hj Mahmud bin Hj Mohammad Daud, Director of ITSS, and a
representative from BSP.
The Hot Standby System database is
synchronised every half-hourly with the live system situated at BSP's
computer room in Seria over a high-speed connection, where the system
will ensure a minimum downtime for business operation.
SAP or System Application Product in
data processing is an integrated proven system with a good and
controlled system that keeps track of all sorts of business
transactions and involves about 1,600 users from BSP, BLNG and BST who
are trained for this system.
According to Malai Anwar Hussain,
Head of IWM Work Management System, who gave an overview of the
system, by integrating the system, process and data EP blueprint,
streamlines the way business is conducted with consistency,
effectiveness, efficiency and transparency.
A successful test trial was conducted
on the SAP Disaster Recovery Hot Standby System last September, said
Head of SAP Infrastructure, Hj Halid Hj Mohadi, during a briefing on
the underlying infrastructure of SAP. --
