Drug Couple Detained In Water Village

Bandar Seri Begawan - Officers of the "Special Movement Squad" of the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) yesterday morning conducted a raid at the house no: 167 J-1, Kg Saba Darat, Kg Ayer, in Bandar Seri Begawan.

A local man, 32, and a Malaysian woman, 25, were detained after NCB officials seized 100 packets of Methylamphetamine, a controlled drug which is also locally known as known as "Syabu" packed in different sizes.

It is believed teach packet cost $30, $50 and $100. The couple's activities were watched a week ahead of the raid.

During the raid eight suspected drug addicts were also arrested. They were believed to be in the act of taking and purchasing the drugs. An investigation is proceeding.

With the couple's arrest, the NCB successfully smashed another drug dealing ring in the Kampong Ayer.

The couple was detained for further investigation.

The NCB called on the members of the public especially community leaders, to be more responsible about what was happening in their villages and to give their co-operation and lodge a report of any drug-related activities. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
