Pusat Ehsan to tee off for charity
By Malai Hassan Othman
Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah is scheduled
to host a two-day golf tournament this weekend as part of its
initiatives to raise funds for its new programme to help special needs
children to get on with life like any other normal children. "It
will be held at the Royal Brunei Golf and Country Club in Jerudong.
The tee off will be at 12 pm Saturday, May 3, 2003. On Sunday, May 4,
2003, the tee off will be at 6.30 am", said Pg Hj Tajuddin bin Pg
Mohd Yassin, the Manager of Pusat Ehsan.
"All golf enthusiasts are most
welcome to participate in the fund raising golf tournament", said
Pg Hj Tajuddin. He said that Pusat Ehsan is hoping to raise enough
funds through the event that would go a long way in an effort to
ensure success in their new so-called "early intervention
programme".
"The new programme was
introduced last month. It is designed to help prepare the special
needs children from the age of 3 to 5 for the next phase of their
development when they reach the age of 6," he said.
"At the moment, the early
intervention programme is only provided by the Child Development
Centre and designed for those aged 6 and above. So we at Pusat Ehsan
are hoping to fill in the gap by providing this new programme to those
aged below 6", explained Pg Hj Tajuddin.
The manager added, "We currently
have some 14 children in the new programmes and more are coming. We
are providing the new services for free and for this reason we have to
go somewhere else for the fund to help us through the expenses needed
to run the new program successfully.
"So one of the initiatives is to
host this upcoming golf tournament. And we hope it would be a
successful one," said Pg Hj Tajuddin.
