Sigh of relief
By Achong Tanjong
In a bid to lessen the burden of Awg
Haji Mohammad - whose house recently collapsed in Kg Pekilong Muara,
Kampung Ayer - the Islamic Religious Council, Ministry of Religious
Affairs provided financial aid amounting to B$2,200, in addition to
necessary school items for the victim and his family. The presentation
ceremony was held at the residence of Awg Haji Maraji, the village
chief of Kg Pekilong Muara, with the Acting Secretary of the Islamic
Religious Council, Awg Haji Wahab present to hand out the
contributions.
Ever since the incident, Awg Haji
Mohammad bin Haji Jaluddin had to reside at his in-laws place in
Kampung Saba, together with his 11 children and three grandchildren.
The house of the 59-year-old retired
civil servant collapsed on April 23. Fortunately, no one was in the
house at the time of its collapse.
Prior to the incident, the victim had
been advised to evacuate after authorities determined the foundation
of the house appeared weak.
