SIA cancels more flights
By Azrol Azmi
As the SARS epidemic continues to
wreak havoc, Asian airlines have been forced to reduce several flights
due to the decreasing number of passengers. The Minister of
Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang
Haji Zakaria, recently stated in his speech at the Royal Brunei
Airline Strategic Plan launching, that Asian airlines were facing an
even greater challenge than the 9/11 crisis. The outbreak of the
deadly SARS in many parts of Asia Pacific, have adversely affected
travel and tourism in the region forcing many airlines to cut back and
cancel flights.
Yesterday, in a statement issued by
Singapore Airlines Limited (Brunei), effective May 1, 2003 the
Singapore/BSBegawan flight services will be cancelled on May 5, 12, 19
and 26 due to poor demand.
The statement further added that
SQ182/181 will now operate only on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Timings for the flight will remain unchanged.
