Brunei Lauded For Quick Response
To SARS Outbreak
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The World Health Organisation (WHO) has commended
Brunei for being one of the first countries to publish guidelines,
protocols and contingency plans to safeguard the public against the
deadly outbreak of the SARS epidemic.
Dr Pengiran Haji Hishamuddin in an
interview shared his professional views on the level of adequacy of
the Isolation Ward at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS)
Hospital to contain the virus.
According to WHO guidelines on the
deadly SARS virus, the actual incubation period is ten days. But
Brunei's Ministry of Health has extended the surveillance period to 14
days, just to be extra careful. -- Courtesy of
