the Royal Regalia Building
An educational tour was organised to
Bangunan Alat Kebesaran Diraja in the capital yesterday morning by the
PDS School Malay Society. More popularly known as the Royal Regalia
Building, the Bangunan Alat Kebesaran Diraja holds many Bruneian
treasures, which mesmerised the children. They were fascinated by the
ceremonial regalia on display, including the Royal Chariot, gold and
silver ceremonial armoury, the traditional jewel-encrusted coronation
crowns and a replica of the throne used by His Majesty on state
occasions.
The tour was attended by more than 50
active members, all of which are Secondary 1 students from PDS School.
According to Dk. Zainatul Ain, Head
of the Malay Society, the objective of the tour was to expose the
children to the Brunei's rich history and culture. This trip was in
line with their Melayu Islam Beraja studies as well, she added.
Bahasa Melayu teachers from the
school believe the importance of taking their students out of the
classrooms once in a while and bringing them closer to the reality of
Malay ethnicity. This will also serve the purpose of further
motivating the students to learn and draw a stronger sense of
enthusiasm from them.
