St James School students visit
HSBC
By James Kon

Slide presentation on the history of HSBC
A group of 20 students from St. James
School made an educational visit to Hong Kong and Shanghai's Banking
Corporation (HSBC) headquarters in the capital yesterday morning. Mr
Rosli, the bank's Human Resource officer, said it is hoped that the
visit will broaden the students' knowledge on the banking sector as
well as learning more about HSBC, so that one day they might pursue a
career in the sector.
During the visit, the visitors were
briefed on HSBC structure and organisation whereby the students were
introduced to the history of HSBC in Brunei and all the financial
services that HSBC has to offer in Brunei as well as around the world.
A video clip on the bank's promotional effort and how it works
together in different parts of the world to solve problems was also
presented.
After the briefing, the students
visited the banking facilities like the Call Centre, Treasury
Department and Mailing System at the HSBC headquarters.
Miss Ovilie, the teacher from St.
James School, who led the visit, said the educational tour was aimed
to familiarise the students with the banking system and information
technologies used in the banking sector as the students were from the
commerce and computer studies classes.
