Another Shop Robbed In Capital As
Break-Ins Continue
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - For the second consecutive night another business
establishment was broken into and the cash register and safety deposit
box targeted.
A reputable workshop in Gadong lost
more than $1,000 when its cash register was forced open.
However, the thieves were not so
lucky with the safety box. They managed to force open the first layer
but aborted the plan after they saw another layer that needed to
broken down.
They left everything else intact such
as car spare parts, sports rims and tyres costing tens of thousands of
dollars.
According to the manager, the thieves
went to the workshop administration office through a back door, which
was forced open.
"We closed at 6 pm for the day
on Saturday. When we opened this morning, we saw the place in a mess.
"The thieves had a lone
intention, to get as much money as they could and leave everything
else untouched," said the manager yesterday adding that the
break-in must have happened anytime between Saturday night and early
yesterday morning.
The police are still investigating
the case.
Yesterday, the Sunday Bulletin had
reported a similar break-in at a restaurant and shop in the capital
where $570 was stolen as well as other items such as 70 assorted
shirts, 102 assorted watches costing $70 above, 60 pairs of shoes, 100
wallets, 20 raincoats, 1 VCD machine, 5 luggage bags and 5 portable
tape recorders.

offices and shops after closing time, some establishments have
resorted to stationing at least a night guard inside their
establishments. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
