General info course to increase
scout leadership qualities

Senior officers of the Scouts Association during the course
Nusa Laila Puteri School as well as
the Persekutuan Pengakap Negara Brunei Darussalam (Scouts Association)
organised and carried out a General Information Course yesterday at
the Scouts Headquarters in Gadong. Present at the event were various
senior officers of the Scouts Association as well as other Scout
leaders and teachers of the Nusa Laila Puteri School.
As many as 32 participants turned up
for the course which included 9 lecture sessions which were conducted
by a number of senior officers of the Scouts Association.
Skip Hj Mohd Yassin Hj Adam who
briefed the many participants on the main objectives of the one-day
course started off the opening session.
Among the many objectives of the
course was to increase leadership quality of Scout leaders and to
widen their knowledge and skills in order to better teach other Scout
members throughout the nation.
The course also aimed to prepare the
participants to become a more pro-active and trustworthy Scout leader
as well as to aid them in gaining more experience, competencies and
developing their intellectual skills to aid them in improving their
performance as a Scout leader.
Various issues relating to Scouting
principles, structures, training schemes, and an evaluation of the
overall course were among the many topics covered during the nine
sessions.
The general course concluded with a
closing ceremony attended by the President of the Scouts Association
of Brunei Darussalam - Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Awg Mohd Ali Hj Awg Mohd
Daud as the guest of honour.
During the closing ceremony a cheque
of B$8,455.48 was also presented for the Palestine Humanitarian Fund.
The general information course
represents the second time Nusa Laila Puteri has conducted and
participated in such an event.
Speaking on behalf of the school, was
Skip Hjh Sharifah Nor Saiyid Ibrahim, the Principal cum Acting
Commissioner of Scouts Headquarters who explained that the course
would prove useful to its teachers who can later on use the knowledge
in order to better guide their students both academically and
non-academically.
