Begawan - Youths who can wisely use the knowledge of reading
the Holy Book of Al-Quran could glorify the country's name in the
regional and international arena.
This was stated by the Minister of
Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Dato Haji Awang Hussain, at a
Kesyukuran Ceremony in honour of the country's male reader or Qari who
became champion in the Second Quran Reading Competition for Asean
Youth early this year held in Brunei three years ago.
Pehin Hussain said the country's was
also proud of the excellent achievement of the country's Qari, Awang
Muhammad Fahmie who emerged winner in the International competition.
The Minister also expressed the hope
that Muhammad Fahmie's achievement can encourage other youths in the
country to be more active in upgrading the reading quality of the Al-Quran.
THE function was highlighted with a
Quran reading by champion reader Awang Mohammad Fahmie.
At the ceremony, Awang Muhammad
Fahmie received $5,000 from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports
for winning the competition.
The, competition showed positive
results in the reading quality of the Holy Book among the male and
female readers who participated in the contest, according to a top
