Suspect Parcel In Seria Oil Town Brings In the Anthrax Squad

Seria - A suspect parcel was found outside the post box of the Postal Services in Jalan Raja Isteri, Seria yesterday.

The Task Force committee handling the anthrax threat in Brunei, in a press release said security measures were taken by all concerned agencies according to the plan of action in dealing with the threat of anthrax.

The suspected parcel was immediately sent for laboratory test.

Early results showed that the parcel was free from all germs including anthrax germ.

The press release also said the hoax call is an offence punishable under the country's Criminal Act.

Those found carrying out this kind of irresponsible act could fined up to $100,000 and five years jail.

Anyone who carries out this sort of action using anthrax or real biological substance or possess, produce and distribute any kind of biological substance can be life imprisonment.

The police wishes to remind the public that any hoax call is categorised as an act of crime and can be punished under the same act.

The press release also says the police is still investigating the Seria incident.
